Sam Houston State’s Rojas Tabbed As Player of the Week

rojas(June 1, 2017) Robie Rojas of Sam Houston State University has been selected as this week’s Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award’s Player of the Week.

Rojas had 10 hits in 16 at bats with two homers in games against Stephen F. Austin, Southeast Louisiana, New Orleans and Central Arkansas. Rojas had seven RBIs and six runs scored.

The senior catcher is from Jersey Village, Texas and has also played collegiately for Oklahoma State and Blinn College.


Kacy-Clemens

(May 24, 2017) Kacy Clemens has been selected as the Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award Player of the Week. Clemens hit .455 with a grand slam, double, six RBIs and five runs scored. He also walked six times. Clemens performance came in four games against Incarnate Word and West Virginia.

Clemens is a senior first baseman/pitcher for the Longhorns. He played at Houston’s Memorial High School. He is the son of seven-time Cy Young Award winner Roger Clemens.


shewmake(May 17, 2017) Texas A&M true freshman Braden Shewmake has been recognized as the Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award Player of the Week. In three games against Ole Miss, Shewmake batted .417 (5-for-12) with two homers, two doubles, four RBIs and three runs scored.

Shewmake played baseball at Wylie East High School in Wylie. He was a mid-season addition to the BBCSA watch list.

Rice Owls sophomore catcher Dominic DiCaprio has been chosen as the Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Player of the Week.  DiCaprio, a recent addition to the watch list, hit .444 with eight hits (including a double), four RBIs and three runs scored. He had multiple hits in three out of four games against Lamar and Charlotte.

DiCaprio played high school baseball at Stoneman Douglas in Parkland, Florida.

Also of note this week, Jameson Hannah of DBU hit .339 for the week with two double and a triple. Austin Homan of Texas A&M had five hits in 12 at bats with two RBIs.


boswell(May 3, 2017) University of Texas junior infielder Bret Boswell has been chosen as this week’s Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award Player of the Week.  Boswell hit .455 with seven runs batted in and two home runs in games against University of Louisiana Lafayette and Oklahoma State.

Also of note this week, Texas Tech’s Hunter Hargrove, facing New Mexico and TCU, hit .500 (9-for-18) with six RBIs, six runs scored a home run and a double. TCU’s Luken Baker, batted .455 for the week with a double and a home run.

Boswell is from Rockwall, Texas where he played for Heath High School.


brintz(April 26, 2017) Brandon Brintz of Houston Baptist has been named this week’s Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award Player of the Week. Brintz batted .545 (6-for-11) with three RBIs against Incarnate Word. He walked five times and scored three runs.

Brintz is a senior outfielder from Murietta, Calif.


JoeDavis1(April 19, 2017) University of Houston sophomore infielder Joe Davis has been chosen as the Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award Player of the Week. Davis belted a grand slam as part of a 7-for-16 week (.438 average). He had five RBIs last week.  In the past two weeks, Davis has hit four home runs against Memphis and East Carolina.

In  2016, Davis set several team freshman records including home runs (14) and RBIs (58). He is originally from Austin and played at Austin Bowie High School.


hargrove(April 12, 2017) Texas Tech infielder/outfielder Hunter Hargrove has been selected as the Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award Player of the Week for the second time this season. Hargrove hit .400 for the week (6-for-15) with a homer, two doubles and eight RBIs against New Mexico State and Baylor.

Hargrove was also the Player of the Week March 1st, making him the first repeat winner. He’s a sports marketing major.  Hargrove is the son of Randy and Jennie Hargrove of Arlington. Randy played golf at Dallas Baptist.

Also this week, Houston Baptist’s Brandon Britz batted .444 (4-for-9) with two RBIs and a run scored. Ryan Newman of Texas State had five runs batted in.

(April 5, 2017) Texas A&M senior outfielder Nick Choruby has been chosen as the Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award Player of the Week. Choruby batted .500 (8-for-16) with two home runs and three RBIS. He also stole a base and scored four runs against Texas State and LSU.

In his junior season with the Aggies, Choruby batted .299 with 22 RBIs. He led the team with 12 sacrifice bunts. Choruby, originally from Portland, Oregon, played high school baseball at Jesuit HS in Oregon.

Also on the watch list this week was Conner Fikes from Stephen F. Austin who batted .500 as well with a home run and 11 runs batted in.

(March 29, 2017) Dallas Baptist sophomore outfielder Jameson Hannah has been selected as the Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award Player of the Week. Hannah hit .444 (8-for-18) with four RBIs, two doubles and a home run. He also scored five runs for the week and had a stolen base.

In his freshman year in 2016, Hannah received Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American honors and was co-freshman of the year in the Missouri Valley Conference. Hannah played high school baseball at Flower Mound.

Also this week, Houston’s Connor Wong hit .458 with three RBIs and two doubles. Hunter Hargrove of Texas Tech collected 8 hits in 20 at bats (.400) had five stolen bases and two runs batted in.


3/21/15 BB vs. WVU, Won 10-4(March 22, 2017) Baylor senior catcher Matt Menard has been named the Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award Player of the Week. Menard posted a .533 average for the week (8-for-15). He scored four runs, had two doubles and two RBIs against Dallas Baptist and West Virginia.

Menard, originally from Port Arthur, played high school baseball at Bridge City High School. He was named All-Big 12 Honorable Mention  as a junior in 2016.

Also of note this week, Houston’s Joe Davis hit .412 with six runs scored and five RBIs. He collected four hits, including a triple, in Sunday’s game. Ryan Newman from Texas State had a five-hit game in an extra-inning contest with Coastal Carolina. He hit .421 for the week.

(March 15, 2017) Texas Tech infielder/outfielder Tanner Gardner has been selected as the Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award Player of the Week. Gardner posted a .600 batting average (9-for-15)  with four doubles and three RBIs over the past week.

Gardner is a junior who played high school baseball at Frisco Centennial. The Texas Tech Red Raiders are ranked No. 4 in Collegiate Baseball’s Top 25 poll.

Also of note this week, UT-Rio Grande Valley’s Jose Garcia batted .417 for the week with a home run. Brett Boswell from Texas had seven hits in 18 at bats this week including three doubles.

(March 8, 2017) TCU first baseman/RHP Luken Baker has been named the Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award Player of the Week. Baker batted .571 for the week (8-for-14) with a triple, a home run and three runs batted in. He had a .684 on base percentage and a .929 slugging percentage.

His numbers came against three Top 25 teams (LSU, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M) as well as Rice.

Baker, a sophomore, played at Oak Ridge High School and was the 2015 Gatorade National Player of the Year.  He started all 67 games last year as a freshman at TCU, earning Big 12 Freshman of the Year honors.

(March 1, 2017) Texas Tech infielder/outfielder Hunter Hargrove has been selected as the Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award Player of the Week. Hargrove amassed eight hits in 20 at bats (.400 average) with a home run, three doubles and nine RBIs in five games.

Hargrove starred at Mansfield High School where he played all nine positions during his high school career.

Also of note this week, Baylor’s Richard Cunningham was 5-for-10 (.500) with three RBIs. Lamar’s Reid Russell belted a pair of home runs and was 7-for-14 over the past week and continued a nine-game hitting stream.
